How We Choose Creature Card Stats
Every Creature Card is built on real science, but designed to be easy and fun for kids to understand. Here’s how we decide what goes on each card:
-
Height, Length, and Weight: We use the average adult size for each species. Animals can vary a lot, but one clear number helps kids get a mental picture without confusion.
-
Lifespan: We list the typical range in the wild. Wild conditions are tough, and lifespans there are more realistic than those seen in zoos or captivity.
-
Habitat: Short and simple, usually a few words describing where the animal naturally lives.
-
Diet: Icons that represent a single word (meat, plants, insects, etc.), so it’s consistent across the whole collection.
-
*Danger Meter (1–6): This is a fun way to show how dangerous an animal could be if you met it up close. A 1 means “basically harmless” and a 6 is reserved for mythical or truly legendary creatures. (please read safety note below)
-
XP Score (out of 1000): This is our way of gamifying the collection. It is not scientific. It is a mix of rarity, danger, and overall wow-factor.
-
Rarity: Each animal is ranked on our custom scale (pest, common, elusive, endangered, critically endangered, extinct, mythical). This makes the cards collectible while also teaching conservation status.
By balancing real-world data with kid-friendly design, the cards stay both educational and exciting to collect.
*Safety Note
Creature Cards include a “Danger Meter” to make learning about animals more fun. This scale is for entertainment and education only. It should never be used as guidance for approaching, touching, or interacting with wild animals. Many creatures, even those ranked with low danger levels, can still be harmful or carry diseases. Always admire wildlife from a safe distance and never attempt to handle wild animals.
